If you had a dollar for every product or service that promised to make you more money, put more bushels in the bin or make your job easier, you’d probably be a millionaire already. One of the reasons to do business with people who know you, your land and the way you farm, is to help separate fact from fiction. Our employees aren’t trained to sell; they’re trained to listen. And our goal every day is to help you be more successful in your farming business.
We also know that you have choices as to where you purchase your crop inputs and services. But when you purchase from us, your money stays right here in northeastern Montana. It’s a virtuous cycle that promotes jobs and livelihoods in our own communities, while providing the products and services you need to remain among the most productive farmers on the planet.
We are a full service agronomy center, offering services including soil or tissue testing, convenient fertilizer and chemical delivery as well as custom application, and fully stocked warehouses in Opheim, Peerless, Scobey, and Antelope. Our agronomy centers are staffed with CCA certified agronomists to answer your crop production questions and assist you in the field.

Although PRO Co-op has more than 600 member-owners, we treat each customer as an individual, with your own needs and interests, and your own way of doing things. We’ll always offer you straight up advice based on data-driven research, as well as shared knowledge and observation from our colleagues near and far. We offer many grower education opportunities in the form of field days, grower meetings, newsletters and more to ensure our customers are up to date on the ever-changing world of agriculture. We know that when our customers are profitable, our co-op will be profitable. And that’s a win for everyone.
When your fields stretch across a half-section, a full-section or even more, there are bound to be differences in soil fertility across such large areas. Soil type, drainage, organic matter and other variables can make some parts of your fields more productive than others. So if you’re applying the exact same amount of fertilizer across your entire field, you’re probably over-applying in some areas, while under-applying in others.
Zone testing from PRO Co-op can help you apply fertilizer where your crops need it most, while cutting back on poor or less productive parts of the field. By matching the location of each sample to GPS, we can program our floaters or help you program your equipment for variable rate application across the entire field.
The result: less wasted fertilizer, and higher yields on your most productive land. To learn more about soil testing services, talk to your PRO Co-op agronomist.
Like soil testing, tissue testing can help determine if nutrients such as nitrogen, boron or zinc could be limiting yield on your most productive acres. Samples are generally taken in June, before first herbicide application, and in wheat, again at flag leaf stage.
PRO Co-op agronomists are experienced in tissue sampling and work with reputable labs for analysis and sufficiency scales. It’s also important to take into account crop stage in order to determine whether in-season action can help correct a deficiency, or if nothing should be done.
Precision farming techniques, such as tissue testing based on satellite imagery, can help determine if nutrient application across the whole field is necessary, or whether applying additional nutrients only on certain production zones might be sufficient.
To learn more about soil testing services, talk to your PRO Co-op agronomist or call Luke Dighans: 406-783-8549.
An integral part of the agronomy services PRO Co-op provides is field scouting. Solid money- making and money-saving decisions are more likely to be made when a trained professional physically spends the necessary time in your fields looking and testing for nutritional problems, pest infestations, and anything else that may be adversely affecting your yield potential and bottom line.
By design, PRO Co-op patrons can either arrange to have their fields scouted on a regular basis, or make a phone call and have one of our agronomy advisers stop by and perform the service as needed.
Pest management strategies actually begin when you select the wheat, pulse and oilseed varieties you’re going to plant. If they offer some resistance to insects or disease, you’ve already taken your first step toward an integrated pest management strategy.
Seed treatments protect your seed investment as well, while ensuring your crop gets off to a fast start. Even crop rotation is partly a pest management strategy.
A PRO Co-op agronomist can help ensure your pest management practices are working in synch with each other, which in turn, can help minimize costly rescue treatments.

The days of applying the same amount of fertilizer across an entire field are coming to an end. For one thing, it’s a waste of money. For another, it increases the risk of nutrients and chemicals ending up in the local watershed. Precision farming is really about maximizing yields on your best ground, and it’s not as hard as you might think.
With 36,000 tons of dry fertilizer storage between our three plants in Richland, Madoc, and Antelope, PRO Co-op has product available when you need it. These modern facilities utilize state-of-the-art automation in order to efficiently track, blend, and deliver quality product in a very short amount of time.
All three plants are equipped to impregnate Agrotain Advanced (to protect against nitrogen volatility) and ProCote Zinc onto your granular blend without over-application that can result in plugged equipment.
Liquid fertilizer (UAN 28% and more) is stored at our Richland location. In-field delivery of both liquid and dry fertilizer is accomplished with our well-maintained fleet of trucks and trailers, as well as local team members who are committed to keeping you rolling.
There are certain insect, disease and weed control issues that can only be dealt with using targeted crop protection products. At PRO Co-op, we carry labels from all of the major manufacturers, including Syngenta, Corteva, and Bayer.
Our team of professional agronomists know which chemistries are most effective against each type of weed and pest. They also stay in touch with agronomists throughout our area and into southern Canada to find out what is working best in the field in real time. If you can combine a fertilizer and a herbicide or pest control application, we’ll tell you and save you an extra trip across your fields.
Our goal is always to do right by our customers and to help you be as profitable on every acre as you possibly can.
